3rd Annual Audubon Invitational

You are invited to participate in a golf tournament at River Ridge Golf Club to help us further our commitment for native plant and wildlife habitat. Part of your entry fee will be coupled with last year’s contribution and go towards purchasing Panicum vargatum, or switch grass. Switch grass is a tall-growing, warm-season, perennial grass that is native to NC. The upright growth provides some overhead cover for protection, quality nest sites, and food areas for birds. We will establish a bed of switch grass on the hill between 5 green and 6 tee. As an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for golf courses, we are required to actively solicit help from the community and members of the club for projects such as wildlife habitat and enhancement. This is an avenue for you to participate in establishing this particular native grass to this golf course, which in turn will provide cover, nest areas, and food areas for different species of animals.
